Wingwalkers Promotional Band Portrait

I recently did a quick little promo shoot during a rehearsal for upcoming local band, Wingwalkers. Their rehearsal space was in a school hall, so I had a bit of a challenge on my hands finding the darkest, plainest background available (ended up going with a dark blue, large print curtain) so that I could isolate the band members by darkening it out in post. It's always fun going into a shoot not knowing what sort of set up I'll be working with and being able to push my skills to figure out how to create the picture that I and the client want.

Bridgnorth Music and Arts Festival 2013

So it's that time of year again and I somehow managed to haul my ridiculously pregnant self to see my father-in-law's band play.

Fortunately he was nice enough to bring along a lawn chair for me, though it didn't exactly provide the greatest vantage point. At least I got lots of shots of adorable dogs though.

And this kid.

So my father-in-law has this band and this August they played a show at the Bridgnorth Music Festival. It was awesome, they were great.

Music Photography - Kazlon

A couple of days before christmas I went to a cool little pub in Bewedly to photograph my fiance's father's band, Kazlon. It was the first concert they'd played together in twelve years and so they were due some live pictures without curly 80's fro's and moustaches. I was more than happy to oblige.

Music Photography - Gullah

Last Sunday I was very kindly invited to The Asylum 2 in Birmingham to photograph my friends' band, Gullah. It was a first attempt at music photography and the light was low, but I enjoyed myself even more than I expected. It's so much easier to photograph when you're subject can't see you! However, it's hard when they don't keep still.
