I first read Lord of the Rings when I was 12, but it's even more amazing the second time around.

Black and White Wednesday

The weather has been going mental in the UK lately, with overflowing rivers and even a random downfall of snow last week. It's times like these that I'm glad I live so high above sea level. Phew.

I don't always sleep in my own bedroom for the first time, but when I do, I sleep for 12 hours.

Although we'd originally planned to let Rory sleep in our bedroom until she was 6 months like all the NHS literature you get bombarded with when you have a baby, told us to, we had a change of heart. Rory likes to sleep in the starfish position, and in her narrow crib this just wasn't practical and meant she'd wake herself up throughout the night whenever she smacked her hands against the bars. Anyway, we finally decided to brave putting her in her own room 6 weeks early, and we all got 12 whole hours of uninterrupted sleep. Heaven.

She's finally big enough now to start playing with things and responding to all of the colours and textures in the world around her. It's so fascinating to see her react to something new and learn to interact with her surroundings.
